AJR Celebrates Volunteers in London

The Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) thanked and celebrated their volunteers at the Wiener Library in July with a summer evening of food and Pimms.

Jewish Volunteer Network (JVN) Chief Executive, Nicky Goldman was guest speaker and wowed the guests with statistics and facts to demonstrate the benefits of volunteering – for example, that being a volunteer can reduce the chance of having an asthma attack!

AJR Chairman, Andrew Kaufman MBE, took the opportunity to thank those present. He said, “Tonight is an opportunity for the AJR to give thanks and to honour our wonderful volunteers; a group of truly altruistic people who unconditionally give their time to support our members. In recent years the AJR has come to rely on you – our volunteers – and as well as growing in number you have taken on more roles, more frequently and with greater interest.”

As well as a delightful reception buffet, guests were able to view the current photographic exhibition by Gerty Simon and were given tours of the Wiener Library archive by Senior Curator, Dr Barbara Warnock.
